Installation Guide

Follow this process to install Synapse Booth, connect Synapse Kiosk, and activate your license correctly.

Before You Start

  • Use the same purchase email used at checkout.
  • Keep your license key accessible.
  • Confirm internet access for activation and cloud features.
  • Review full hardware requirements before live events.

Install on a New Windows PC (Detailed)

If Windows blocks installation on a new PC, follow the OS-specific steps below. Use only installers downloaded from synapsebooth.com or downloads.synapsebooth.com.

Windows 11 Guide

Recommended order for unsigned-installer warnings:

  1. Right-click installer file > Properties. If Unblock appears, enable it, then Apply.
  2. Run installer. If you see Windows protected your PC, click More info then Run anyway.
  3. If Windows allows only Microsoft Store apps, open:
    Start > Settings > Apps > Advanced app settings
  4. Set Choose where to get apps to Anywhere (or warning-only option).
  5. Install Synapse Booth, then restore stricter app recommendation settings if desired.

Windows 10 Guide

Equivalent path for Windows 10 systems:

  1. Right-click installer > Properties > enable Unblock (if shown).
  2. If SmartScreen warning appears, select More info then Run anyway.
  3. If blocked by app source policy, open:
    Start > Settings > Apps > Apps & features
  4. Under Choose where to get apps, select Allow apps from anywhere (option name may vary).
  5. Install, activate with your license key, then keep event machine fully updated.

Advanced Only: Temporary Driver Signature Enforcement Disable

Use this only if support confirms a driver-signature block. This is temporary and resets after reboot.

  1. Hold Shift and click Restart in Windows power menu.
  2. Open Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart.
  3. On startup list, press 7 or F7 for Disable Driver Signature Enforcement.
  4. Install app/driver, then restart Windows normally.

Update Process

For every new release:

  • Use your receipt/confirmation link to open download access.
  • Download latest installer version.
  • Install over existing version unless release notes say clean install.
  • Keep license key unchanged for activation.

If Something Fails

  • License rejected: remove extra spaces and retry copy/paste.
  • Installer blocked: run as Administrator and allow in security prompt.
  • Kiosk not syncing: verify both devices are on same network.
  • Still stuck: submit ticket with screenshots and error text.
